Tipping in Bali - How Much and When
Tipping is not mandatory in Bali but is always appreciated. Here is a guide to reasonable tipping amounts.
For private tour drivers: Rp 50,000-100,000 per day is a generous tip. If your driver went above and beyond (extra stops, great recommendations), tip on the higher end. Tips are never included in our tour prices.
Restaurants: Most mid-range restaurants add 15-21% service charge to the bill. If no service charge, 5-10% is appreciated. Warungs (local food stalls) do not expect tips but rounding up is nice.
Spas: Rp 20,000-50,000 per therapist is standard. Hotel porters: Rp 10,000-20,000 per bag. Temple guides: Rp 20,000-50,000 per person.
